PTO meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Stettin Library

Free childcare is available for each meeting

 

PTO Mission Statement

To provide a positive and enhanced school environment to Stettin Elementary School by supporting the staff and children through the use of funds and volunteers, creating a welcome forum for parents, teachers and staff to meet and share ideas, organizing activities and opportunities for everyone to participate to build a collaborative relationship with staff and parents.  We are making the difference for our community school!

Activity

Summary

Time Commitment

Popcorn

As a special treat, popcorn is popped for the students one Friday a month.  This task is most effective with at least three people donating their time.  Younger siblings are welcome to join you while you help.

1-2 hours a week

Vision and Hearing Screening

Parent volunteers will accompany students to and from their classrooms. This is a complimentary screening for all students.

2 hours one to two times a year

Picture Day

Student pictures are taken in the fall and the spring. Volunteers will accompany students to and from their classrooms and help students to fix their hair before their picture is taken.

2-3 hours twice a year

End of Year Activity

This is a celebration for the end of the year. It is held during school hours. Students participate in fun outdoor games and activities.

Stettin Spirit Wear

Volunteers will sell spirit wear during various PTO events. Volunteers will sell, order, and inventory spirit wear.

1-3 hours at various events

Family Dance

Held in February in the school gym in the evening. Five to ten volunteers are needed for setting up/decorating, concessions and clean up.

1-3 hours

Book Fair

The book fair is held once or twice a year. This is a chance for families to purchase quality literature at reduced prices. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, selling, reading to classroom and clean-up. Volunteers are needed during the school day and in the evening.

1-2 hours

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is a one day activity where each classroom will visit during the school day at holiday time. This event allows students to shop for their families and bring home a wrapped gift. Ten to twelve volunteers are needed.

3-4 hours

5th Grade Celebration

This celebration is for 5th grade parents and their families. A committee of five to six 4th and 5th grade parent volunteers are needed to set-up, decorate and clean up. Fourth grade parent volunteers typically serve refreshments after the celebration.

1-2 hours

Pancake Breakfast

This is our main PTO fundraiser. It is a community pancake breakfast with raffles and an open gym. Volunteers are needed for cooking, serving, set-up, clean-up and raffle coordination. This event is held on a Saturday morning in April.

Family Open Gym

On the third Sunday of January, February, March and April there are family open gyms. Students and their families come to play in the gym. A volunteer is needed to reserve the gym and supervise the day of the event.

Teacher Meals for Conferences

A volunteer will coordinate meals for parent-teacher conferences in the fall and spring. Parents will be asked to provide food for the teachers.

Teacher Appreciation Week Meal

Parent volunteers will provide lunch for teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.

1-2 hours

Library Assistant

Parent volunteers will assist the librarian on a weekly basis.

1 hour weekly

Lunch Time Assistant

Parent volunteers are needed to help students transition from the lunch room to the playground.

1 - 5 hours weekly
